7 Essential Items To Pack For A Flight.

Summer travel season is coming to an end, but there’s still so many of us with the need for beaches and experiences especially in the cooler months.

For those of us who fly, we know that not flying private comes with riding alongside people we’ve never met before in a tight space that’s not always comfortable.

There are many ways to make travel a comfortable experience, and listed below are just a few of the basic things to bring along on your flight.

Masks

With the pandemic we learned that illness and germs can travel very quickly. Masks aren’t required for flights but if the person beside you has a nasty cold causing them to cough and sneeze the entire flight or an offensive body odor that makes you nauseous, masks still come in handy.

Headphones

Headphones are great for you as well as the people around you. No one enjoys hearing music or movies that they didn’t decide to listen to, so as a courtesy it’s best to keep those choices in headphones. Another reason for them is to block the sounds you don’t want to hear. It could be anything from a crying baby or pet, a conversation you don’t care to hear from people around you, or the sounds from someone’s device who forgot their headphones.

Eye mask

Eye masks are great for hiding your sleeping face from people walking up and down the aisle and those sitting next to you. Some people find it hard to sleep with others looking at them and this is a good solution. Another pro is that they block out the light on a sunny day especially if you’re sitting near people who enjoy keeping the window open in flight, or of you’ve been seated in an exit row. A lot of those seats do not have a window shade.

Wet wipes

Antibacterial wet wipes are really important. It’s good to wipe hands down after walking through the airport and touching things, and they should be used to wipe down tray tables and even arm rests. Resting on the window is sometimes comfortable, but that should be wiped down as well.

Blankets

Dressing in layers is important on flights because the time of year can make the plane hot or cold. It’s hard for a flight attendant to find a happy medium that satisfies all of the passengers so a lot of times the plane is more cold than hot to avoid bloody noses or asthma attacks. Having a blanket is great to keep comfortable individually and some people use blankets to cover their face when sleeping as well.

Pillow

A good pillow can make or break a flight. Having to rest in a tray table or using your own hand can be really uncomfortable. Especially on long flights. A pillow makes a flight so much more comfortable.

Snacks

BYOS! One thing is for certain about air travel is that there can always be changes, what should be a two hour trip can easily turn into 24 hours. Even if everything goes smoothly, there may be turbulence and the flight attendant may not be able to serve snacks. Even if they’re able, it might be something that isn’t appetizing. It’s good to have some favorites in a bag handy, it’s way less expensive than the airport and it’s a guarantee that there’s something you like at your disposal.

There are so many items that are necessary to pack for vacation and travel. Each trip and destination has its own specific list, but if all else fails, have your must haves packed in your carry on. It’s the best way to ensure a comfortable flight.
